The disclosure that follows is our attempt to fully comply with the FTC’s policy that demands we disclose any and all affiliate relations we may have on this blog or website. In addition, transparancy is key in any relationship and we want to be above board and transparent.
First, in plain English, you, the visitor or customer, should assume that any and all hyperlinks on this blog or website leading to websites where products or services are sold are affiliate links. If you click on any of these links and visit the attached site, then a cookie will be set in your Web browser that will make it possible for us to receive a commission “IF” you purchase a product or service on the other end. This is a completely legitimate and honest way to monetize a blog or website and pay for the operation thereof, and we gladly reveal and disclose our affiliate relationships to you, accordingly.
Moreover, we fully disclose that hyperlinks on this site are, in some cases, shortened and, in some cases, cloaked to hide long, ugly affiliate links, for functionality, practicality and/or tracking purposes. We have nothing to hide and are very proud of our relationships with the excellent advertisers, vendors, products, and service providers found on this blog or website. Link tracking, shortening, and cloaking is nothing new and very commonplace practice on all kinds of blogs and websites nowadays.
Furthermore, we DO NOT receive physical products, gifts, or cash directly in exchange for any reviews or posts you find on this site. That is, NO ONE HAS DIRECTLY PAID US TO DO REVIEWS OR POSTS ON THIS BLOG OR WEBSITE. We have to tell you that it is possible that our reviews and posts are influenced by our affiliate relationships and/or use of the product or service, and therefore may create a conflict of interest. We do not believe a conflict of interest exists, however, but you, the visitor or customer, must decide for yourself by considering the affiliate relationships and link techniques we have described here.
Additionally, other vendors may also pay to place advertising on our blog or website in the form of banners, hyperlinks, scripts and/or widgets. These are paid advertisements and while we do our best to allow only top quality products and services to be advertised on our site, we are not responsible for any claims or testimonials made on paid advertising links and/or related sites.
The following represents a more legally worded statement but basically conveys the same information presented in the plain English version above.
Compensation & Affiliate Disclosure Policy (valid from 23 March 2011 on)
As directed by the FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION (FTC), (see 16 CFR Part 255) – Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising, the purpose of this policy is to establish any compensatory affiliation between the site owner(s) and the affiliate networks Amazon, Clickbank, Commission Junction, Google, Share-A-Sale, and any individual vendors they represent, and that the site owner has established an affiliate relationship with one or more of the same.
